How big is your why?
In my recent Masterclass, I talked about the importance of knowing your WHY when it comes to your business.
And I talked about the difference between your little why and your BIG why.
Most of the entrepreneurs I know are clear on their little why.
Your little, why are all the reasons running your own business can help you personally. Things like:
More freedom to travel.
More flexibility and time to spend with your family.
Making more money.
Fame.
Living a certain lifestyle.
These are your little whys, not because they’re not important, but because alone, I believe they’re not enough to sustain you and your business in the long run.
You need a bigger vision for your business and the impact you want to make. A vision that compels you to keep moving forward even when it seems impossible to keep going.
This is your BIG why.
On the days when you’re working long hours and wondering how you’ll ever find the freedom, you hoped for as an entrepreneur.
Or if you’ll ever hit the income goals, you set for yourself.
Your Big Why will be the inspiration you need to keep going.
It is the bigger purpose for your business. It’s what you want to be known for and the impact you want to make in this world.
Ask yourself:
Who do you want to serve?
What impact do you want to make in their lives?
Why does this work matter?
Because as Les Brown said, when you’re why is big enough you will find your how.
I also believe that when your why is big enough you’ll:
Attract the right people
Create the right offers
Connect with those who share your vision and want to support you in making it happen.
Knowing your Big why is what will help you achieve all the things on your little why list.
Your Big why feels inspiring, it excites you and compels you to keep moving forward.
It’s at the heart of everything you do in your business.
It’s what many call your north star. It sets the direction for where you want to go and guides you towards your destination.
Without it you are lost, struggling and at the whim of every latest trend or tactic.
I know this from my own experience.
It’s only when I became clear on my Big why, which is to help women entrepreneurs realize their highest potential through their work, that all the other pieces of my business started to fall into place.
I became clear on the content I want to create, the services I’m inspired to offer, and the community I want to build.
It is the single most important question you need to answer in your business.
So before you go any further in your business, ask yourself, what is your Big why?
I’d love to know what comes up for you. Please share in the comments below.
Here we grow,
