Dead ends and detours.

And while I’d love to say that I got immediately clear on my purpose and everything fell into place; it wasn’t quite as simple as that, it rarely is.

In the year that followed, I launched and 6 months later, shut down my very first business. More about that here (link to A&S blog entry).

I researched, meditated, volunteered and read every book I could get my hands on in search of what I should do with my life.

I took courses, attended conferences, sought out coaches and spoke to anyone and everyone who I thought might see what I couldn’t about my purpose.

And after a year of searching and what felt like little progress, I panicked.

I worried I’d never figure out my life and run out of money, so I ended up taking another stint in corporate.

And that’s when I finally realized that if I wanted to:

•    Earn a living doing work I loved and sharing my skills and experience in a meaningful way to help others

•    Work where, when and how I worked best including the freedom to design my life on my own terms (hello to a mid-day yoga class) and,

•    Have unlimited potential to grow and develop as a person and in business,

Then, I had no choice but to become my own boss.
